CID arrests rogue cop

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Criminal Investigations Department has taken over an investigation in connection to an incident where a Police sergeant allegedly attempted to murder a woman in Millaniya. The Police Media Unit said the Police Sergeant attached to the Thebuwana Police had attempted to shoot a woman on Wednesday (August 15). The woman in question is currently receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital. Police said the IGP had directed the investigations to the CID this morning (August 18). The Police Sergeant in question has been taken into custody and he has been interdicted.
