Extreme weather causes power outages in Nuwara Eliya

Colombo (News 1st) - The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy says over 17,000 homes in the Nuwara Eliya district are experiencing a power failure. Media spokesperson Sulakshana Jayawardena said this is due to trees falling on electricity cables owing to prevailing strong winds and rain. He added that work is underway to restore the power supply to affected areas.
