Testimony against Tiran Alles false - Presidents' Counsel Laduwahetti

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President's Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetti stated in courts today (August 02) that Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe had provided false testimony in the case against former member of Parliament Tiran Alles and four others accused of misappropriating Rs. 200 million. PC Ladduwahetti had presented four affidavits stating that the testimony by Warnasinghe on the Venerable Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero, Venerable Ulapane Sumangala Thero, Keerthi Thennakon and Maithri Gunarathne are all false. Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe testified to the discussion conducted between Maithri Gunarathne, Keerthi Thennakon and Venerable Ulapane Sumangala thero on handing over the relevant documents to the IGP after analysing them. However today, the individuals who submitted affidavits stated that this was not true. The trial date to admit evidence in court has been postponed to the 4th of October.
