COLOMBO (News 1st) - Issuing a statement, Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had stated that the fuel prices have been increased in a manner never experienced before.
He added that the present government has increased the price of a litre of petrol to Rs. 145 and the price of a litre of diesel to Rs. 118, at a time when a barrel of oil is 74 US Dollars. During his tenure, a barrel of oil was US$94 and they were still able to offer petrol at Rs 120 a litre and diesel at Rs 170.
The statement further read that the present govt should explain to the public, the mechanism behind this pricing.
