COLOMBO (News 1st) -The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has decided to reduce the prices of fuel. Thereby the CPC will sell fuel at the previous rates. Director General of the Government Information Department, Sudarshana Gunawardana said the circular regarding this decision has been sent to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. However, certain fuel stations are still selling fuel at the increased price. Such was the case when News 1st visited a filling station in Kurunegala this evening (July 06). When questioned by a commuter, a filling station employee stated that they were "not informed about it (the reduction)". Fuel supplied by the CPC were sold as per the previous price across filling stations located in Matara, Anuradhapura and Kandy areas. Employees at these fuel stations told News 1st that they could not calibrate the metre as per the increased price, - making them continue to sell fuel as per the previous price. While CEYPETCO reverted the increase, Senior Vice-President of Lanka IOC Siddharth Agarwal stated that there will be no revision to the fuel prices increased by them. Filling Station managers also noted they have not been instructed by the IOC to revise the fuel prices. "IOC has not informed us as yet to reduce the prices of fuel. We are prepared to bring down the prices as soon as they inform us" - IOC Filling Station Manager told News 1st.
