The Soccer match held yesterday (July 3) made history when the Brazilian players broke through to the World Cup Quarter -Finals for the seventh consecutive time after an edgy fight won against Mexico. The first phase of the match was a series of missed chances and turned out to be rather frustrating. But, there was a turn of events, when the Brazilian Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior the star athlete scored both goals for the team.
The winning last goal was Brazil’s 227th goal scored at the FIFA 2018, which topped them as the all-time top scorer overtaking Germany. The hard-earned victory cleared chances of Brazil entering the last eight to face Belgium on Friday. (July 6)
The headliner Neymar, had however amidst all the praise been also criticised for his nature of expressing overreaction in the field. He had caught the spotlight when he started writhing in agony and later continued with the match without any issue against a challenge put forward by Mexican Miguel Layun.
The Former England striker Dion Dublin had commented to the BBC Radio 5 live saying “I’m embarrassed for Neymar, he is one of the world’s greatest players but when he rolls about on the floor, I just don’t get it, come on young man you’re better than that, get on with the game.”
However, crowned as the man of the match Neymar has had the most shots (23) than any player so far at the World Cup 2018.
Sadly, the defeated opponents Mexico, that had always made to the last 16 at every tournament since 1994 missed their spot at the final eight when they were bashed by the Brazilians for 2 Nil.
