REUTERS - 'Sicario: Rise of the Soldado' isn't a conventional sequel in Hollywood terms but reunites on screen two of the characters from the original 'Sicario', Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and Alejandro (Benicio del Toro). At the premiere in Los Angeles, Brolin said "I think it's a good continuance of two characters that were fairly unemotional where they get caught in a position where they can't help but be emotional. So I think it's a more personal film, it's a more visceral film and people seem to like it."

"I think the stakes are a little bit higher because you involve a child and when you involve a child in anything, the stakes skyrocket. I think that's one thing and I think the fact that in the first one we were a little arrogant, this feeling that we couldn't lose, I think has been challenged in a major way so yeah I don't think there are higher stakes, there are just different stakes." - Josh Brolin

The film is set against the backdrop of drug wars on the US/Mexico border where cartels have started smuggling terrorists in. In order to add greater stakes to the war, Alejandro kidnaps a cartel leader's daughter. However, things don't go according to plan. 'Sicario: Rise of the Soldado' goes on release on June 29.
