COLOMBO (News 1st) - Postal trade unions have temporarily called off their trade union action which lasted a total of 16 days. The delivery of mail resumed today.
Convener of the trade unions collective Chinthaka Bandara said that around 15 million letters and parcels are to be distributed.
The postal strike was temporarily called off from midnight following talks between trade unions the Minister of Posts and postal authorities yesterday (June 26). However, Chinthaka Bandara added that the hunger strike held at the Central Mail Exchange would continue.
