Influenza A on the decline

Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe says there is a decrease in the rate of viral fever patients reported in the Southern Province. Health sectors say the lack of awareness among the people had caused the spread of the disease. A program has been launched by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to educate the public on how to secure children from contracting the virus. Health Sector officials have urged the public to consult a doctor immediately if the Influenza - A virus symptoms below prevail.

  • Joint Pains
Over 300 patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals in the Southern Province. Around 19 people have lost their lives to the virus thus far. The deceased include 14 children.
