Water Board employees continue trade union action

Colombo (News1st) - The trade union action launched by employees of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) continued today. Convenor of the NWSDB's Joint trade union alliance Upali Rathnayake noted that a decision had been taken to refrain from all services from 9 am today to 1 pm. Members of the NWSDB in the western province launched a 4-hour strike action on Wednesday (May 30th) citing claims that officials were preparing to slash a 25% increase in wages which had been agreed upon. Upali Rathnayake speaking to News1st said that if officials do not provide a favourable response today, they trade union alliance is prepared to step up it's actions.
