Two Arrested After 179 Empty Artillery Shells Found Hidden in Container

(COLOMBO News1st): 179 empty artillery shells, which were attempted to be taken to India hidden inside an iron container, have been discovered.

Following a tip-off, a team of officers from the Central Crime Investigation Bureau conducted the search jointly with Sri Lanka Customs.

The inspection was carried out while the container in question was prepared for export and stored in a port yard.

Police stated that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police added that extensive investigations are underway to determine how they obtained these empty artillery shells.
