COLOMBO (News 1^st) – What are the future plans of the 16 SLFP members who defected from the government? Parliamentarian Chandima Weerakkody made clarifications at a media briefing today (April 28).

According to the MP, they have begun the role of the opposition, he noted that a quarter of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and a quarter of the United People’s Freedom Alliance area seated in the Opposition now. He added that the rest would joint them very soon. However, he did note that a few members who have connections to the UNP and have secret deals with them would never join the group in the opposition.

MP Weerakody said that members of the SLFP and the UNP will join forces soon to create a progressive government free of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
