Female teacher arrested for sexually abusing a student

COLOMBO (News 1^st) - A teacher who has been accused of sexually abusing one of her students at a Haliela school was produced before the Badulla Magistrate Court yesterday (April 24). The incident is said to have taken place in June 2017 however, a formal complaint was lodged with the Police in November 2017. The student and the teacher are in the process of being tested for mental illnesses. According to the parents of the child, the 50-year-old teacher is alleged to have sexually abused their 15-year-old son during a ceremony at the school. Police stated that the Attorney General's advice is to be sought for further investigations and that the arrested school teacher has been released on bail with two sureties of Rs. 100,000. The case will be taken up once again on the 04th of May.
