Matugama-Colombo luxury bus service on strike following an assault on staff

COLOMBO (News 1st) -A strike has been launched by staff attached to Matugama - Colombo luxury bus service today (March 19). The strike action was launched in protest over an assault on two of the staff attached to the luxury bus service, President of  Sri Lanka Private Bus Association, Gamunu Wijerathna said. An accident involving a student who was getting off the bus had lead to the assault by area residents. According to the News 1st correspondent, the residents have lodged a complaint to Dodangoda Police citing that the bus was unsafely driven at the time of the incident. Police has launched an investigation into the matter. The two assaulted staff are also expected to be questioned over the incident.
