COLOMBO (News 1st) - A three-judge bench has been appointed to oversee the case against former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, concerning the controversial human immunoglobulin drug procurement.
This decision follows a request by the Attorney General to the Chief Justice, who has carefully considered the matter.
The appointed bench comprises judges Mahen Weeraman, Amali Ranaweera, and Pradeep Abeyratne.
However, the Attorney General's Department has announced that Judge Mahen Weeraman will be stepping down from the panel due to his impending retirement in September.
Steps have been taken to inform the Chief Justice of Judge Weeraman's withdrawal from the panel.
The case involves allegations against the former minister for purchasing substandard human immunoglobulin vaccines, resulting in significant financial losses to the government and endangering the lives of patients.
