Colombo (News1st): The Road Development Authority says that a new speed measurement system will be implemented from Wednesday onwards to inspect the vehicles that travel at high speed on the expressway.
Director of Expressway Management and Maintenance S.Opanayake stated that the programme is to be implemented as 27% of the accidents on expressways occur due to vehicles exceeding the speed limit .
The director said that, accordingly, the drivers will receive photographs of their vehicles speeding along the EXPRESSway, at the point of exit.
The photographs will include details of the licence plate of the vehicles number, observation date, time and speed.
Accordingly, all the vehicles travelling via expressways will be monitored for speeding from today onwards.
