In a weather advisory issued on Friday afternoon, the Met Department predicted rain across the country on Friday and Saturday.The Met Department expects rain exceeding 150mm in the North-western, North-central, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.

Heavy rains exceeding 100mm are expected elsewhere across the country.

The Department predicts strong winds accompanying rains, and warns the general public to take measures to prevent accidents caused by lightning.
