It is well known to every Sri Lankan that whenever our nation is in the face of a dark, disastrous situation – the Sirasa-Shakthi Sahana Yathra comes to life. Just like every other time before this, we decided to stand by our own countrymen, our people – in the true Sri Lankan spirit.

We at News 1st announced yesterday (January 18) that the Sirasa, Shakthi, TV1, MBC and News 1st Sahana Yathra will be relaunched. The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited decided to relaunch the initiative, given the merciless dry weather that is affecting 23 out of 25 districts of the country.

Thursday, 19 January – Donations kept pouring in to our collection points since morning, with people arriving in numbers carrying much-needed water, rice and other goods.

The programme will begin accepting donations at the following collection points:

> MTV, MBC, Head Office (Braybrooke Place, Colombo 02)
> The Stein Studios, Ratmalana
> The Depanama Studio Complex
> Harrison Office, Darley Road
