The Colombo Fort Magistrate on Wednesday rejected a request made by police to prevent the protect march organised by the Inter University Students Federation from proceeding beyond the Colombo Fort Railway Station.

Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne, who took the request in to consideration, said that the march can be stopped under police provisions, adding that civil force could also be used for this.

Yesterday, the Acting Fort Magistrate approved a request made by police to prevent the protest march from entering the Colpetty High Security Zone.

The protest march organised by the Inter University Students Federation against the Private Medical College in Malabe commenced from the Sri Jayawardenepura University.
