The Torch of Hope rally, which aims to create public enthusiasm and generate even more support for our national Olympians, reached Matale on Monday.
The rally commenced in Gampola today, the home town of Chamara Nuwan who will be representing Sri Lanka in Judo at the Rio Olympics.
The rally commenced under the patronage of the Assistant Superintendent of Police in Gampaha and the Central Province Director of the Youth Service Council.
The group who arrived in Kandy, being the first stop of the rally, received blessings from the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic on Monday.
The group was welcomed by the ASP of Kandy, Chulani Weeraratne and Kandy Regional Director, M. W. Wijerathna. Students of Kingswood College, Vidyaratha College and St. Sylvester College, Kandy also joined the Torch of Hope rally today.
Afterwards, the rally concluded its journey for today in Matale.
