The Gammedda 100-day initiative, which was launched by Sri Lankans for Sri Lanka, has recieved an enomorous response from the general public
There are various issues that will be looked at and hopefully tackled through this initiativeOne such project is being done for the people of Padikaramaduwa, Anuradhapura who face a drinking water crisis.
While over 450 families reside in this village, many of them suffer from kidney disease. The residents of this village need to travel a number of kilometres to just obtain a drop of water to drink. All they request for is a tube well and a water filter.
Another project will be initiated for the people of Batticaloa who depend on fishing to sustain their lives, request that this signal lamp be renovated. The signal lamp which has been dysfunctional for a period of time has brought great danger to the fishermen of the area.
Another project will target over 25 families living in the village of Thibbotuwawa, Akuressa who lack sanitary facilities.Their plea is that a public toilet facility be provided to them.
