The damaged water line carrying water from the Ambatale water purification plant to the Dehiwala distribution centre was repaired on Wednesday evening.
The Water Supply and Drainage Board said that the pumping of water has already begun.
The supply of water to Colombo and its suburbs came to a standstill when the pipe line with a diameter of one meter and 14 kilometres in length was damaged in the Thalangama area.
The pipe line that was initially constructed in the year 1966 was last renovated ten years ago. It took 70 people and 15 hours to complete repairs to the damaged pipe line.
The Water Supply and Drainage Board took steps to provide water through bowsers to the areas that were affected by the water cut.
