Electricity

The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy has requested the public to report any disruptions in the supply of eletricity in the Salawa area.

Issues in the supply of electricity could be reported via the numbers 1987 and 1901 – says Media Spokesperson Sulakshana Jayawardena.

Houses and property

According to the Seethawaka Divisional Secretary M.M.S. Bandara, about 353 houses and businesses were destroyed following the blast that occured at the Salawa Army Camp. Bandara noted that over 1000 houses were partially damaged in the incident.

He announced that funds will be granted to the affected residents to rent an alternative house from Monday, June 13 onwards.

Schools

The Education Ministry of the Western Province has stated that four schools which were temporarily closed down following the explosion at the Army Camp will be re-opened today.

According to the Minister of Education of the Western Province Ranjith Somawansa, the Akarawita Maha Vidiyala, St. Don Bosco Maha Vidyalaya, Kaluaggala Siddartha Primary school and Kosgama Sumedha Vidiyala will be re-opened.
