PM visits Salawa – inquires into well-being of residents

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited Salawa to inquire into the well-being of those who were affected by the recent explosion in the Salawa Army camp.

The Prime Minister visited the Sri Vivekarama Viharaya in Boralugoda on Sunday June 12 and inquired into the well-being of people who were displaced following the explosion and fire at the Salawa Army Camp.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited displaced people who have taken refuge at the Muruthagama Community Hall.

The Prime Minister also visited the Kosgama Hospital, which was damaged in the blast.

The Army has undertaken repairs at the hospital, it is to be returned to health authorities on Monday.

12 Army operations centres have been established in areas surrounding Salawa to provide necessary relief to area residents.

Residents of Salawa staged a demonstration on Sunday afternoon as well. The brief demonstration disrupted vehicular traffic on the Colombo – Avissawella road.
