Members of Parliament were given the opportunity to pose questions directly to the prime minister during Wednesday’s parliamentary proceedings.

JVP Parliamentarian, Sunil Handunnetti questioned on the number of investigations the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Large Scale Corruption and Fraud and the FCID has completed?

PM Wickremesinghe, stated that the files and documents of 44 investigations which are completed have been directed to the Attorney General as six have been handed over to the court on his instructions.

Chief Opposition Whip, Anura Kumara Dissanayake noted that one of the six persons who works at the Prime Minister’s Office must be produced before court under the Public Property Act, which has not been done yet.

PM Wickeremesinghe noted that a decision was made that taking action against these officials is wrong as documents were presented by the state service to the president and the relevant ministers that they functioned in the capacity of their service, and not for any other reason.
