In response to a question raised by UPFA MP Udaya Gammanpila, Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanyake, speaking in parliament, noted that there is no requirement to introduce new taxes.
Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake stated that they will be able to generate the expected revenue by the end of the year, since they are operating in a manner where the total revenue and GDP are not affected.
In reply to a question raised whether new taxes will be raised in the future, Minister Ravi noted that the temporarily imposed taxes are in place to pay off previously obtained debt, therefore taxes will not be imposed.
