After being ravaged by the floods the people of suburban Colombo are finally beginning to get their lives back on track once more. However now they face a more silent and more potent adversary in the form of communicable diseases.
In order to led a hand to the people who were affected, the News1st Suva Yathra is currently taking place at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya. The program will continue until this evening (May 28).
This is the second phase to the Sirasa Shakthi John Keells Sahana Yathra which took place last week, where we distributed dry rations to those affected by the floods.
Specialist Doctors , Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Medical Laboratory technicians ,ECG technicians and those affiliated to the professions supplementary to medicine will attend the Sirasa, Shakthi ,John Kelles Suwa Yathra program.
In addition to the health related program, a program to raise awareness of obtaining legal documents including birth and marriage certificates of those affected by floods will also take place.
*NOTE: All medicine provided at the Suva Yathra will be Free Of Charge
