The local fishing community in Sampur has also raised their objections towards the proposed construction of a coal power plant in the area citing that if it is constructed, it would have a direct impact on their profession.
Sampur was in the middle of the three-decade long war between two sides. The locals were only able to breathe the air of liberty following the conclusion of the war.
The lives and professions of the residents are at risk, owing to the direct impact the proposed coal plant could pose to the environment.
According to environmentalists, the over 07 degrees Celsius water that would be released to the ocean from the plant, as well the acidic water that will be released from the plant, would pose a threat to the marine live in the area.
