An event to mark International Students’ Day was held in Colombo was held on Tuesday, March 15.
The event which was organised by the Indian High Commissioner’s Office in Sri Lanka, was graced by Minister of Special Assignments Dr. Sarath Amunugama, and Indian High Commissioner Y.K. Sinha.
Minister of Special Assignments, Dr. Sarath Amunugamam stated that the Indian science and technology beats the world in proximity to Sri lanka
Explaining further, he noted that equally there are institutions which enable Indian scholars, Indian researchers and Indian scientists to come to Sri Lanka and to work in universities, particularly in the fields of medicine, engineering, space and modern technologies.
Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Y.K. Sinha stated that the scholarship scheme is important because it connects the student community in Sri Lanka to the student communty in India.
He added that it is important, because both countries strive to build a knowledge-based society and such two-way interactions are very important to ensure that they reach that goal.
