Update: Police use tear-gas to disperse IUSF protest march in Colombo

A protest march organised by the Inter University Students Federation, was dispersed by the Police at Fort, Colombo on Tuesday, March 15.

The protest march commenced at the Kelaniya University on Tuesday afternoon. The demonstrators marched to Colombo via the Kandy Road and had planned to march up to the Presidential Secretariat.

However, when the protesters reached the Colombo Fort area, police took steps to disperse them using water cannons and tear gas.
The demonstration had been organised citing several issues including the Private Medical College in Malabe.
