The Ceylon Electricity board has requested the general public to to use electricity sparingly from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.

Chairman of the Board, Anura Wijepala has stated that this is due the halt in operations of the Norochcholai power plant. The Chairman states that the use of refrigerators and air-conditioning must be limited.

The Norochcholai Power Plant is scheduled to commence operations as usual from Saturday February 27 onwards.
