Presidential Commission of Inquiry summons Lalith Kotelawala

Renowned businessman Lalith Kotelawala arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate into Large Scale Corruption and Fraud on Monday.

Secretary, Lacille de Silva said that Lalith Kotelawala was summoned to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry in order to record a statement with regard to an alleged financial irregularity said to have taken place during the construction of a building on Galle Road, Colpetty.

Lacille de Silva said that at present, a statement is being recorded from Kotelawala.

Secretary Lacille de Silva also said that even though former first Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa had been summoned to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry today, she has informed them that she would not be arriving at the Commission.

The Secretary to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry added that the former first lady was summoned to the Commission in order to record a statement with regard to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities said to have taken place at the Housing Development Authority. He added that former first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa has requested a period of two weeks to appear before the commission.
