Gotabhaya Rajapaksa arrived at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption, on Thursday, over the investigations that are taking place on Avant Garde and the transactions of Rakna Araksha Lanka Limited.

Former commanders of the Sri Lanka Navy Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake and Admiral Jayantha Colombage appeared before the Commission to provide evidence pertaining to the issues surrounding Rakna Araksha Lanka Limited.

Former Defence Secretary,Gotabhaya Rajapaksa stated:

My participation with the incident on Avant Garde was one that was for the betterment of the country and the government. And if they assume that fraud took place in this and are attempting to prove that, then it is wrong. The Government has earned a revenue through this and in addition, Avant Garde is a local company

The matters surrounding Avant Garde also caused a stir at the cabinet media briefing today.

When questioned what would be the status of revenue after Avant Garde was taken over by the state, Cabinet Spokesperson, Minister Rajitha Senaratne said:

For the first six days, the income was 525,000 dollars and this was through security alone. And you can see the profit the government is making. But when Avant Garde was in operation, they reported only 2.5 million.
