Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to make an official visit to Sri Lanka in the first week of 2016.
Speaking at the official Announcement at an event in Colombo yesterday visiting Pakistani Minister for Commerce, Khurram Dastgir Khan said he was “delighted” by the planned 2016 visit by his head of state to Sri Lanka.
Terming the relationship between the two countries “excellent and postive” he warned that a lot of hard work needed to be done to lay the foundations for the visit so that the partnership can be furthered substantially to move it into the 21st century.
Reflecting on the recent past Dastgir admitted Pakistan had been marred by a period of “turmoil and bloodshed” but he remained optimistic stating that Sri Lanka and Pakistan could open doors for one another.
