Killing of Anuradhapura Karate Champion: CCTV captures masked intruders

Police say that eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a nightclub owner in Anuradhapura.

Police are searching for 15 more suspects, including the mastermind of the brutal murder. Close to 20 people had allegedly carried out the attack at the nightclub on Saturday night.

CCTV footage showed the manner in which masked individuals wielding clubs and sharp objects stormed the night club.

The owner of the nightclub who was a renowned Karate Champion, Wasantha Zoysa died following the attack while three others who sustained injuries have been admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Police say that an iron baton, four wooden clubs, an axe and masks which were believed to have been used for the attack were found in the Waadakada Reserve in Shravasthipura, Anuradhapura..

A car, a three wheeler and Tipper truck used by the suspects, have been seized by the police.

The remains of Wasantha Zoysa were taken to his residence located on Mudithaa road in Kadapanaha this afternoon.

He was a 57 year old Karate champion and was renowned as a thrill seeker.
