Speaking at an event held in Moneragala on Sunday, Minister of Irrigation, Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa  commented on the consensual government.

A heightened police presence was witnessed at this event held in Medagama, due to the recent confrontational atmosphere in the Moneragala district.

Speaking at the event, the minister said:

In the end, there is no point taking our lives on loan. In the end, when people speak of us, they speak of the work we did. The good and the bad. This is not only for the SLFPer but also for the UNPer.

The Minister also said:

If I build a reservoir, Ranjith Maddumabandara will also be a part of the endeavour. Understand current politics. We eat together in parliament. Ranjith Maddumabandara and I sit together in cabinet. But here, the people in the village are fighting each other. What is this brand of politics? Where is the consensus?”
