We start in the cricket field where at stumps on Day 3 of the rain-hampered third test, India are leading Sri Lanka by 132 runs, with 7 wickets in hand.

Playing in his maiden test, Kusal Janith Perera posted a maiden test half century in Sri Lanka’s first innings on Sunday. India who were looking to extend a strong performance in the first innings, were dealt a severe blow this evening, losing three quick wickets.

Taking first lease of the wicket, India posted a total of 312 runs and then had the home team on the defensive as Sri Lanka lost their first six wickets for 47 runs, within 19 overs.

Dhammika Prasad was struck in the arm shortly afterwards and left the field injured with Sri Lanka on 48. Kusal Janith and Rangana Herath then rallied to ensure Sri Lanka posted a respectable total.

The pair put on a 79 run 7th wicket stand with Kusal Janith scoring his maiden test half century in 49 deliveries. He scored a total of 55 which included 9 boundaries.

Following the loss of the 8th wicket, Dhammika Prasad returned to the field and put on a 27 run 9th wicket stand with Rangana Herath.
