Political party leaders and candidates were also seen casting their ballot on Monday August 17.  Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe cast his ballot at the polling centre at the College House of the University of Colombo.

UPFA’s Kurunegala district candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa cast his ballot at the D. A. Rajapakse Vidyalaya in Medamulana. Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga cast her ballot at the Sanghabodhi Viyalaya in Nittambuwa.

Meanwhile, JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake cast his ballot at the Abeysinharamaya in Panchikawatte this morning.

Leader of the Democratic Party Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka observed the polling stations in Malabe. Deputy Leader of the UNP Sajith Premadasa cast his ballot at the Suranimal Vidyalaya in Abhayapura.

After casting his ballot at the Ananda Balika Vidyalaya in Kotte Ven Madulwawe Sobitha Thera expressed views to the media.

The thera said that if we elect untainted and wise persons to parliament we will be able to create better policies and have proper financial management and once again make Sri Lanka the granary of the east.

Leader of the People’s National United Front for Good Governance, Susil Kindelpitiya cast his ballot in Gothatuwa today.
