President Maithripala Sirisena says that a programme aimed at strengthening the economy of the agricultural community will commence after the elections. President Sirisena made this statement at an event held to unveil the pinnacle of the Chaithiya constructed at the Aralaganwila Kandegama Raja Maha Viharaya.

President Sirisena added that the actions of the former government resulted in areas such a Kandegama being treated in an unjust manner.

The President’s Media Division said that the president had promised to initiate a national programme on domestic food production aimed at the agricultural community.
