A former UNP member of the Ambalantota Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested for allegedly hunting animals within the Mandunagala Forest Reserve.
The Wildlife Office of Hambantota said the suspect was arrested during a raid on Thursday night.
The wildlife officers had also seized a carcass of a Chevrotain also known as a mouse deer and a shot gun in the possession of the suspect.
Another suspect who was present with the suspected former Pradeshiya Sabha member had fled during the raid. Investigations are underway to apprehend him.
