The Coconut Research Institute says there is a high demand for Sri Lankan king coconuts in foreign countries.

Director Dr. Jayantha Gunathilake noted that there has been an export of more than 2.3 million king coconuts during the past year.

He added that steps are being taken to populate different variants of king coconuts to cultivators.
