Minister of Housing and Samurdhi, Sajith Premadasa speaking at a function in the Lunugamvehera area stated that the programme to provide loans to low income families will be accelerated.

He further added that a national movement has been set up to topple him, but neither the former president nor his minions on the sidelines could do this. He further added that, from the day the Samurdhi programme was initiated, loans have been provided to Samurdhi members. He went on to state that  those who were not Samurdhi members were provided loans as well. He also noted that several elements are scared that this process will be a political challenge but no matter what allegations, be it bribery allegations or otherwise, are levelled against him and he is sent to prison and condemned to death, this programme will not be stopped.

The function was held to provide 376 families with Rs. 100,000  each at a concessionary rate, in the Devaramvehera area,  which comes under purview of the Lunugamvehera Divisional Secretariat.
