President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that several persons have taken the presidential election as a joke.
The President expressed this view at a public rally in Ginigathhena on Saturday. Yet another rally was organised by the UPFA to marshal public support for President Rajapaksa at the forthcoming presidential election.
President Rajapaksa expressed the following views:
They are performing circus every day. A different act each day. The latest was that they claim that stones were being hurled at night. Two stones were hurled but did not hit anyone. If it was one of our people, the stone would have hit the target. Just because a stone fell on the stage, this is portrayed as a big incident. Who knows what they will do in the next few days. This is a presidential election and not a joke. I wish to tell the former general secretary not to take this election as a joke.
