President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the situation in which the country was in the past, has been forgotten.
President Rajapaksa made this statement during a meeting at Temple Trees on Monday, with university lecturers and non academic staff.
During this meeting, the President expressed the following thoughts:
–When speaking about the current development which is underway in the country, they say that there is no good governance and there is too much corruption and crime in the country. But we have forgotten a certain era. Compare the situation which the country was in, back then and how it is now. When compared to the past the Terrorism Act and the Emergency Law has been removed and the right to criticise has been secured. This is because we have got past that era today.
