His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, presiding at a meeting recently at the Archbishop’s house, confirmed the visit of Pope Francis to Sri Lanka on January 13 and 14, 2015.
His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith requested the Reverend Fathers to inform the faithful in the parishes and institutions that the Pope will visit Sri Lanka as scheduled and encourage them to pray for his visit.
His Eminence also said that the Bishops’ Conference will stick to the dates as announced in the Vatican itinerary and the Bishops are doing their utmost to prepare for the Pope’s visit.
His Eminence stated last week too, that the bishops were discussing security arrangements with the relevant government authorities. Cardinal Ranjith also said that a delegation from the Vatican is due in Sri Lanka to work out the programme for the Pope’s visit.
