An asylum seeker from Sri Lanka has been killed in a hit-and-run accident in Croydon, England.

The Croyden Guardian reports that the 43-year old Sri Lankan asylum-seeker was crossing the street near his home when he was mowed down and hit by a driver of a BMW car according to the police.

The victim, Jeyaratnam Kandiah was pronounced dead after the crash.

Croyden police has still not identified the hit-and-run driver.
