The Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C.V. Wigneswaran says that the current government has ignored the people in the North.
The Chief Minister made this comment at an event held in Thondamanaru, Jaffna on Wednesday.
I took oaths before the President with the intention that the people of the North will not be separated from the others and so that a good era will dawn for the country. I submitted a set of proposals at that instance and the President promised that these matters will be fulfilled. But, nothing has been done as yet. I sent a letter to the President with more facts. There was no response. It is like the fable about the dog in the manger who doesn’t eat hay and won’t let the cattle eat it either.

Today the hay I am referring to are the people in the North. The investigation in Geneva is underway at present because a section of the hay was set on fire. So the Northern Provincial Council is the dog. They are powerless and unable to appoint a Chief Secretary or have the Governor transferred as per the requests of the people. It is possible that the Development Committee which has not met since 2002 suddenly met in 2014 because of the Presidential Election.

They may have concluded that the Tamil youth would mistakenly vote for them. We tell our people to take everything they give you. They have a lot of compensation to pay to you. All they are giving now is a small portion of that. At the coming Presidential Election, think hard and make a decision.
