Speaking at an event held in Bingiriya on Saturday, President Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that the prices of goods and services could reduce further in the future.
Hasn’t the electricity tariff reduced? The price of gas was reduced by 250 rupees. Keep account of all the prices that are coming down. Petrol was reduced by five rupees wasn’t it. The price of Kerosene was reduced by 20 rupees. Other prices too will come down soon, there are no two words about it.
His Excellency stated:

“The work we have done in this country in the recent past is being criticised. While we are doing all of this, there are also people who are opposed to the nation being free. A child born in the North in the past five years has not heard the sound of gunfire. Little angels came here and danced but there was an era where at this age they would have cyanide capsules around their necks. On the 19th of May 2009 about 560 or 570 little children came to the custody of the Army. We rescued them and returned them to their parents within a month. Some did not have parents. We enrolled them in schools and gave them shelter in the boardings.”

The President declared open the Bingiriya Pradeshiya Sabha building at this event and also presented uniforms to pre-school children in the North Western Province and motorcycles to matrons at these schools.
