Chairman of the Valikamam North Resettlement Committee S. Sajeevan has requested the President to expedite the process of resettlement in the area.
He made this statement while addressing a media briefing in Jaffna on Saturday.
As the Valikamam North Resettlement Team we make this request from the President. The British Prime Minister toured this area and looked into the situation of the displaced persons. We request that the President look into the issues of these people and provide them with speedy solutions because he always says that this is one country and one nation.
The process of resettlement should be expedited. A resolution was passed in the Northern Provincial Council that the army must be withdrawn from the north, it should be implemented. They are reclaiming land for the needs of the army. They have occupied cement factories. They are removing all the metal objects in the building. A situation has arisen where the Teacher Training Centre in Palali cannot be operated. Because of such reasons our people are inconvenienced.
