Senior Minister Athauda Seneviratne is of the opinion that the UPFA lost votes in the Uva Provincial Council Poll as it put forward an unsuited candidate.

The Minister made this statement at an event held in Colombo on Friday:
There were reductions and increases in the vote for two reasons. One is that the UNP candidate resigned from Parliament to contest. This was done to energise the campaign. We did not put forward a suitable candidate to face this. We put forward the same old faces. The lack of personality became a shortcoming. Relief was given to every home in Mone1ragala but it was not given to Badulla. People could have been upset by this as well.
